What is Prothelial used for?

This medication is used for relief of mouth sores (such as those caused by canker sores, cold sores, braces, radiation treatment, cancer treatment). It may also be used for the temporary relief of mouth pain due to procedures such as dental cleaning, tooth extraction, or removal of tonsils or the uvula (the small bit of flesh hanging down in the back of your throat). This drug comes in a dental paste or gel that allows it to stick to the inside of the mouth/cheeks/gums. It works by forming a protective layer to help prevent further irritation and pain.

Do not apply this medication in the eyes or on the skin. Use it only inside the mouth.

Use this product as directed by your dentist or doctor. The dosage and directions for use are based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Although not intended to be swallowed, this medication is safe if swallowed.

Avoid eating or drinking for at least 1 hour after use.
